We start at the massif of the mighty Zugspitze in the direction of the Fern Pass. We reach the crossing into the Gurgltal valley on a wide gravel road. The first technical test awaits us in the downhill to the crystal blue Lake Fernstein with its romantic castle. We reach the Inn valley via the Mieminger Plateau. Alpine landscapes like in a storybook. We spend the night in Imst.
The main Alpine ridge is practically within reach. During the ascent to the Piller Hill in the morning, the surface alternates between quiet asphalt sections and forest paths. At the very top we finally enjoy the view of the Ötztal Alps and the Inn Valley. The upcoming downhill to the ice-blue Inn makes the brakes glow. We reach Lafairs via the old Roman road. Relaxation in the sauna.
Start of the royal stage over the main Alpine ridge. Even the Romans had respect for the Altfinstermünz Gorge, which is like an immovable barrier in front of the Reschen Pass. Our gravel bikes master this challenge brilliantly, and Lake Reschen lies at our feet. With the eternal ice of the Ortler in view, we speed down into the Vinschgau Valley. Lovely South Tyrol - here we come! In Vinschgau we enjoy the excellent South Tyrolean cuisine.
After a day of exhausting biking, we first roll through the apple orchards of the Vinschgau Valley. We quickly reach Merano, and there we enjoy a delicious cappuccino. The Passeier also invites us to linger. We stop for lunch in one of the most beautiful wine taverns in South Tyrol with homemade elderflower juice and tasty bacon. The destination for the day is the wine village of Nals near Bolzano. We relax in the wellness area of our hotel.
We make rapid progress on the South Tyrolean Wine Road. The gravel bikes spiral upwards towards the ice holes and on to Kaltern. The lunch break is high above the Adige Valley. A long descent takes us down to the language border. The last kilometers to Trento we do not only gravel on the cycle path into the city of the Council.
A long climb on asphalt up towards Monte Bondone awaits us in the morning. We enjoy an Italian cappuccino at the top of the pass to the Sarca Valley. Lake Garda is almost around the corner! We pass quaint villages and admire the climbing acrobats in the wild Sarca Valley. Italy envelops us. Arrival at the Mecca of mountain bikers. We´ll enjoy a multi-course farewell dinner together.
After breakfast, the bikes are loaded onto the bus. Return trip by bus back to Bieberwier. Upon arrival in Biberwier, everyone travels home individually.
„If you are looking for an introduction to the gravel bike Transalp, this tour is just right for you. The right mix of mostly unpaved gravel paths, short trails and lots of side roads. Gravel biking is the new way to travel - mostly away from traffic, very close to nature. Crossing the Alps from north to south on a gravel bike, and discovering the fantastic mountain world in a completely new way. An absolute must!“

In winter, she lives in Switzerland, is a ski instructor and also runs a small sports hotel.
